Pancake Day

Hello all,

It's Shrove Tuesday which means we need to get rid of all the "sinful" food in our cupboards.

A quick straw pole at AB towers has revealed our favourite toppings include:

Lemon juice and sugar - a simple yet classic combination of sweet and sour.

Bacon, maple syrup and mascarpone - different and with a modern twist.

So we would love to hear your favourite pancake toppings, plus any funny pancake related stories :-)

Crepes - lemon and sugar

American style - crispy streaky bacon and a light maple syrup or fresh berries

Blinis - cream cheese with chives and horseradish, topped with smoked salmon and a squeeze of lemon.

Annoyingly Mr Cake is home late tonight so I might go of a double celebration on Thursday and have crispy duck stuffed in pancakes with the usual garnishes.

My son is attempting some pancakes atm. I showed him how to make the batter so if these turn out nice I bet he'll be eating pancakes on a regular basis.

He's having them with lemon & sugar and Nutella.

I have "English Breakfast Sausages" with mine. I don't like maple syrup so use "Aunt Jemima" syrup.

What are 'English breakfast sausages'?

They're skinny little things about 4" long and 1/2" in diameter...not heavily spiced, yet quite tasty.

Usually just soft Muscavado sugar and lemon juice on mine, but open to try other things.

jar of cherry pie filling,warmed up and put onto pancakes,rolled up (loosely) and served with nice icecream or cream or mascarpone
