Is my bf a misogynist?
14 Answers
My bf is always making these nasty comments not about me but about women in general. At first I thought it was normal for guys to do that but it's gotten to the point where it's really beginning to make me wonder if he even likes women at all. He has said that women are stupid; men are smarter; that we are whiners; that we always need attention; and that we like spending money. And it's the way he says it too. I'm worried because if he really has no respect for women in general; does that mean me as well? One time I jokingly said that women were smarter then men; and he snapped "prove it"! He had magnetic puzzle and said if I were smart I could finish it under a minute. I couldn't and he sneered "SEE"! Do you think my bf from what I've described is a misogynist? Or am I overeacting?

All that being said, there are groups of women with not a braincell between them, who sort of cultivate being thick and high maintenance, and they get right up my nose too, and I would say I actually like women a lot. I find them to be more sensible, sensitive and inteligent on the whole, but even I have been known to make the odd remark about that type, who give all other women a bad name. It all dpends on the context when he says these things.

Are you suggesting that women don't whine? That they don't always need attention? That they like spending money? Answer truthfully.
It annoys me when men get accused of misogyny when its the traits they hate, not the women per se. If the majority of women exhibit those traits then draw your own conclusions. Such 'misogyny' is therefore justified.

Speaking as a person of the male persuasion, he sounds like a prize pr*t and deserves a good kick in the g**lies as you dump him. Come on, this is the 21st Century - people are people, regardless of gender. Give him the elbow and find yourself a decent bloke who's evolved a bit further up the ladder.....
