What is the difference between oriented and orientated? People seem to swap and change with this. Could anyone give grammatical examples of both contexts?

What ssmart says is true, in that most dictionaries carry orientate as a valid variation of orient, but I would argue that careful users of English would exclude the unnecessary extra syllable. After all, no-one would dream of saying 'interpretated' for interpreted', would they...
