He achieved fame by founding many newspapers himself in both Europe and America. He also sponsored Henry Stanleys mission to find David Livingstone and established sporting trophies for yatching and motoir racing. The expression coined from his name was a corruption of gorblimey in turn from God blind me.
Another one was a Public Relations director for Aberdeen Football Club a short while back. He resigned shorlty after being spotted kerb-crawling in Aberdeens red light district.
