help to find a song from 1989

hi folks this is a long shot and im not confident of finding the answer but this is the answerbank so you never know.

i am trying to find the title and artist to a song that was in the uk music charts in 1989. im sure that the man who sung the song had a connection with prison. from what i remember he had either written the song whilst he was in jail or he had recorded it and then went to jail. the group was named after the artists first name and it didn't do too badly in the charts. i thought the song was called something like "hold it in" or something similar but i have searched high and low and can't find such a song anywhere. i don't remember any further songs being released so it may well have been a one hit wonder.
