I have G?F?R - I thought it was gaffer but Chambers does not have an alternative spelling. 51d is Elgar, 44d is toffee and 45d is Carrel. Could the compiler have mis-spelt the suturing surgeon as Carell which would make Gaffe? Still not right though. Any ideas?
