Need explaination of the cryptic part of clues.
The special instructions state that they are only partial clues

48A Near neighbour to Hardwick losing some stature with working class stories (5,2,3.6)
answer "NIGHT OF THE IGUANA"

21,41,9 Belated dispatch note opening (8,4,6,)

thanks ever so
that's great rainblue but it means that the clue is complete [not partial]. i was hoping that the possible discrepancy of w/c = u might help explain the other one [ie it might be closing not opening] as it is i'm at a loss on this one. sorry.

I wonder if the special instructions refer to the clues being only partial inasmuch that they do not include the 'definition'

my pint[s] suggest that this is the way the play actually opens [news of someones death]. it's a bit of insider knowledge, not a cryptic clue as such. if only i could google the text to check the theory......
