Making good progress with this. Just got the 10 lines to draw. Lots of thematic material (and lots of fun)

It's certainly in Collins Thesaurus, contendo, under said heading. I hadn't heard of it before.
Yes contendo it's in Bradford's (3,5)
Thanks Clamzy. Got it. What astonishing ingenuity to devize a crossword of this complexity.
it's in chambers too, but not alphabetically.
...and Chambers thesaurus, under said heading
Help! I have completed the grid, found the 4 travellers, the 2 modes of transport and the one they are going to meet. I think I have found 3 of the 4 descriptive words for what they are wearing using 7 lines through 15 cells. However the final word (presumably 3 lines through 7 cells) remains elusive despite hours of staring at the grid!!! Any subtle hints to put me out of my misery would be gratefully received! Really enjoyed this crossword and am rapidly becoming a Listener addict!
Started this late but I now have a full grid and everything except for the "ten straight lines". The ambiguity in the preamble is annoying ~ "description of what each of the four wears"; does this mean there are four different items, or just one item that is worn by all of them?
SallyR - the cells count sounds good but not the line count - you should do a recount and then consider the word 'wears' in the preamble. rabet - that is difficult to answer without giving too much away i think.
SallyR - 6 of those lines should be enough to show you how 'wears' should be interpretted.
Thanks, Bellabee...I have 2 words (4 lines through 10 cells) that seem to describe what is worn "on top" but am struggling with the other bit
SallyR - if that was 5 lines through 11 cells i would know where you were going wrong [ie add a letter to the start of the 2nd word]. as it is i can only ask if you are sure your jumbles are entered correctly?
SallyR - I think I am at the same place as you - I also have two items from four lines but can only equate to 10 cells if I count the same cells twice where the lines meet !
SallyR & 7lattens I think you are correct with your four lines through 10 cells, and are on the very lip of a full solution.
are you suggesting 1st word + 3rd word [unfinished] clamzy, if not i'm baffled!
...or i suppose it could be 1+2 [unfinished] ?
oops - sorry, didn't think of starting there for some reason - but 7lattens counting cells twice only seems to give my possibility sorry, i may have misled you SallyR!
Yes you are right Bellabee I was making assumptions and confused SallyR's 10 and 7lattens 11. My assumption was that Sally R had the first and a lipless third.
Sorry for the confusion.
....and yet even from there how can you get 7 lines through 15 cells - as you posted initially ?? even my limited numerical skills should be able to work that out - baffled!
but you are right clamzy regarding SallyR - she has covered the tallest and smallest and just needs the mediums to complete the set.
In Potteresque terms "Sorted" - rather annoyingly Chambers gives the precise four word definition - why oh why did I not consider checking this earlier - most enjoyable construction - thanks to Tall'n
