Samsung galaxy 2 will not connect to my home wifi...please help!

Just got the new phone but it will not connect to my wi fi!! It finds my router (bt voyager 1500) but will not connect to it?
I will however connect to some random wi fi down the street,the only problem is that the signal to that one is so poor i cannot use it.
Could somone please help me out,i have tried to connect other things wirelessly to my router before without luck and it only seems to pick up my laptop!

Isn't there a setting in the router or a switch on it to enable easy pairing?

Are you sure it supports connection to your network security set in router?
Best login to router to see what it's using.

My router is open,i have never been able to set it up to be protected!

Probably everyone around there dloading pron on your connection then, so your phone can't get a look in : )
