All the political parties at the last election said there would have to be cuts to the NHS budget, but that any cuts wouldn't affect patient care. This is clear evidence that the cuts the Coalition Government have applied ARE affecting patient care and putting lives at risk.

This is misrepresented..........operations, particularly heart operations would not be performed without resuscitation equipment being available in the hospital and more importantly in the operating theatres.

People complain about the Daily Mail.........but.....Manchester Evening News? I wonder what Political persuasion they might be?

That i'm sorry to say is rather a typical story in the NHS, the facts are that its not only about cuts, but about stupidity and incompetence, where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I have seen this a hundred times, suggest the patient should demand an apology at the very least, or compensation

An apology for what? for being successfully resuscitated?

Compensation for what?...there is no suggestion in the article of injury.

so he was, but why were they unaware of the procedure, or someone suggested they ring 999, don't understand that. I have seen too many patients left alone, no food, water, ringing for assistance, elderly and frail, and so forth, and the endemic health and safety rules applied to the letter, to the detriment of patients.

em......you may have guessed that i am no fan of the NHS in it's present form but this story is purely Political and let me just have a guess as to who leaked the story......a non medical member of the union..UNISON......just a guess!

could be, but i have witnessed some truly shocking behaviour by medical staff, as a patient, and as a visitor to friends and family, the lack of care, and the way H&S is adhered to, with no common sense, or compassion.
There are many good things about the NHS, but so much wrong.

Just a bit of balance, i have had to use Private care a few times, and can safely say i wouldn't again.

em.....depends upon where you sample the NHS care and Private care.
For 30years I worked part NHS/Private and 12 years totally Private.............so I have sampled both from the other side of the bar.

well came unstuck as had private medical insurance through my company, but there was a cap on it, no idea why wasn't told, or what was cut off figure, but to cut long story short ended up being told we can no longer treat you, your money has run out. Its complicated as they say, but i no longer have private insurance anyway. But did find at the time that money mattered more than my wellbeing.
