// Four Afghan civilians were killed and another two injured by a remotely controlled RAF 'drone' in Helmand province, it has been disclosed.

The attack, which was targeting insurgent leaders and revealed by the Guardian, including a Taliban commander who was being tracked on the ground, is the first such time a UK Reaper drone has caused confirmed civilian casualties.

4 more to add to the 14000-34000 (approx.) civilian deaths so far. Not exactly a success story is it?

How much of a 'Civilian' are you when you are travelling in the company of insurgents and a in a vehicle containing a 'significant quantity of explosives'?
Can`t argue with that point of view JTH.
Yes
Always ready to report on civilian casualties Gromit, but we hear very little from you when your own country men are killed or maimed.

As JTH says "who are the Civilians and who are the insurgents"?
One would imagine that killed or maimed troops are the unfortunate norm AOG however, civilians on such scales are not exceptable, from whichever side.
Not like you to use dead civilians to peddle your political ideology Gromit!
Any deaths however caused are precipitated by Islamic extremist activities, end of. We would not be there were it not for 911 etc.

Many of the Taliban are civilian farmers who do part-time fighting. It must be very difficult to differentiate between a farmer with a beard, turban and AK49, and a similarly dressed and armed insurgent.

Glad you had a good time. I've got my ticket for the Academy.
As anybody asked why after 10 years of bloody conflict in Afghanistan they are no nearer to being defeated? Its because as said above you can't differentiate the civilians from the Taliban acting dual roles. The coalition should issue warnings to the villages that if the Taliban try to take refuge in their village they also will take the consequences of a strike.
