MM & KM Links July 2011 Wk 3
24 Answers
The MM links have released relatively few points in the last two weeks. I therefore stated that I would attack the ice palace with a blowtorch in an atempt to release more points.
Unfortunately, the Ice Palace was more of an Ice Castle and I used up most of the gas canister just breaking through the outer walls. There was very little left to melt "The Ice Queen's" heart so although you can expect an increase in points, don't expect a veritable glut.
Because points may be at a premium, don't forget to play early in order to gain bonus points. On each link, bonus points only remain availavle for the following two minutes after the first discovery. It is single ponts only thereafter. Remember also that "The Ice Queen" is based in Ontario, so there may be a North American bias to her choices.
The MM Game is introduced in Quizzes & Puzzles at 8:45 Saturday morning and the links themselves follow at 9:00 precisely.
The sister game of the KM links is based on the words that Kate Mepham chooses to include in her Saturday GK Crossword in the Daily Telegraph and linked to 4 answers in the Monday Herculis Crossword. Thos game is run by Seekeerz from all the way down under in Oz.
The game is launched at 7:00am but there is no rush in this one since points here are not time dependent.
Good luck and happy linking.

What Shrubbery?
I ask myself the same question. Hardly anybody has been near in months and the shrubbery is in a sorry state of neglect. The poteen still is falling apart and the condensing coil has been half-inched - presumably as a spare part for someone's central-heating hot-water system. Magic mushrooms lie rotting where they grew, unseen and unharvested. Here and there, green algae partially obscures the occasional discarded wine bottle that on closer inspection reveals the macabre contents of vole and woodmouse skeletons.
In one corner, the remains of a strange wood and glass structure can be determined under the encroaching ivy, honeysuckle, briars and bindweed. Inside there are traces of flowerpots and seedtrays so maybe this was the infamous potting shed where all sorts of scheming used to go on. Tucked in behind it, equaly obscured, is a more mechanical device - on wheels (but flat)! I do believe it was once a bus! Yes, I'm sure it was once a bus. Where the destination screen should be, a tattered piece of black canvas shows a faded but still legible terminus of 'Old Sarum'. A bus timetable in the driver's compartment has been severely ravaged by slugs and snails but I can still make out one word on the cover: 'Wiltshire'. Maybe Sarumite could shed some light on this?
Even the hinges on the gate are corroding through lack of use.
Where is the 'Ground-Force Team' when you need them?

Alba, a year or more ago this thread was a hotbed of intrigue as potential players gathered to celebrate and scheme the night before the game started.
Sarumite used to drive the bus, cultivate the mushrooms and nurture the malt. Pauline and her cronies used to buy out (and consume) the entire stock of the local wine merchants. Strix used to goad them all on in the way only an owl can.
Occasional (no, 'frequent') musical interludes allowed the glasses to be refilled.
All that is silent now. Not even a hoot from the owl. Where once there was joyous frivolity, now there is only the echo of death-watch beetles tunnelling through the fence posts in search of a mate.

I'm very fortunate that neither any family or friends have had to undergo chemo or radiotherapy. My best wishes to your friend (and you too), keep kicking his whatknot into the positive frame of mind x
Sorry, gen2, diversifying (is that a word?) again as usual on a Friday night.
Reminds me of Repetition, Deviation and Hesitation (wonderful prgramme)
