Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

A rapid grid fiil brings the reward of a visit to the sherry decanter before attempting to make sense of the preamble. It's a risky strategy, but someone has to try it.
On reflection, I think I boobed on Colleague's offering last year, so more care needed this time (and perhaps less sherry).

I don't know about your being pedants - I just love the crazy banter. Thanks Contendo and Cruciverbalist, I arrived at a suitable compromise of 2-tone cells and letters on one side and 1-tone letters with a line round the relevant number of cells on the other. I hope that JEG will look with favour. I would hate to fall at this hurdle in yet another attempt (probably failed) for all correct in a year. We do have to have ambitions to keep going, don't we? Looking forward to 16.00.

Filled the grid. Got the theme - unless there is a bluff? No idea yet what to do next.

We have developed a new technique clearly. Post to say we are stuck and PDM arrives almost immediately. Finished. Tips re thinking visually and re the ambiguity/deception in the preamble helped a lot.
