I think I have finished this crossword, but I still cannot see which clue gives the letter "o" in the character who disappeared. Am i missing something?

Hi Kobnut, I think it's 4d.
A very enjoyable crossword, with some clever clues - although I seemed to follow every blind end before finally getting the theme, in spite of the fact the direction was known to me.

Hi Ross -clue is - Triplet gets tense aboard ship.
Triplet = Trin -gets T(ense)
Ship =Triton, with the O as the missing character.

Thanks, Slaney, I had the right answer, but my interpretation of triplet was TRIO. That explains why nothing hangs together!

Thank you, Slaney. I had 4d as a normal clue with TRI (threefold) T (tense) and ON (aboard), but your interpretation is right as it gives the missing "o" that i couldn't find.
