Must be an anagram of 'clues' in there somewhere...

Had nucleus in there, but have just tippex-ed out! Doesn't fit in with 'prescient' going down.

prescient is definitely right - now = PRESENT, carbon iodine = C I => PRES c i ENT

which letter from that intersects 7d?

(i put nucleus because i'm in a bit of meh mood at the moment)

The 'C' of PRESCIENT is the second letter of 7d, so...
