I still think that without some letters already known, it would next to impossible to get BREAD AND BUTTER LETTER from the clue, as the phrase, an American one apparently, is not defined anywhere within the clue. But I suppose if I wanted something easier, I wouldn't be trying to solve a Araucaria puzzle ! And I still can't see where Mr Collins from Pride and Prejudice comes in !
I have now been informed that a Bread and Butter Letter can also be called a COLLINS, deriving from the letter sent by Mr Collins in Pride and Prejudice, so there is the definition ! If Araucaria is reading this, I take it all back !
