Could it be Loadstone if your K is wrong.
Question Author
The 'k' comes from rucK - male deer activities producing deep tracks in the ground(4)
Could that be Rutt. ?
Rutting: period when animals are in sexual excitement. ALSO; To furrow the ground with ruts. So probably 'rutt' instead of 'ruck' which would make the 't' in Loadstone correct.
ruts would provide the s
..and a Rut is a deep track in the ground.
Wouldn't loadstone change the K to an S not a T?
..or RUTS even.
LIMESTONE pavement?
Ah, I see ''ruts''.
Flagstone
or better still LIMESTONE (limestone pavement)
