What about 'Earless', the LE and SS fit but not sure about the rope bit.

I see in Chambers that an Earing is a small rope.

Must he Hearing less(left) H (hard)

I still prefer Earless - little (shortened) rope gives Ear(ing) + Le(ft) + on board SS.
