Observer Prize Crossword 3400 Sunday November 27th 2011
4 Answers
Just got the Everyman in front of me, and am confused, not for the first time with the instructions. Are they celebrating number 3400 by reverting to type and giving wrong instructions? I refer of course to 7 and 8 down, (5,3) which seems to be in fact 4,4. Land Send? The other side of Lands End? It seems like everyone else has taken this in their stride, or have I got completely the wrong end of the stick? No idea what 10 across is!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Thanks. I'm stuck with a lifelong Observer habit, so I will have to continue to put up with their compiler vicissitudes! Last time this happened I fired off an irate email to the Observer, and got an apologetic reply from a sub-editor. It brings in an interesting random second-guessing element to the crossword though! So they tell you 5,3 and you have to deduce 4,4!
They never seem to publish an apology for cocking up though, do they?
