NVRAM check on every boot?

I've been using the PC I built myself since May and I've only really just noticed that on each boot, once the standard CMOS checks are out of the way, "checking NVRAM" appears for a few seconds just prior to the Windows logo animating.

Admittedly it doesn't add long to the boot sequence which is quite quick anyway thanks to the SSD, but is it meant to check this on every single boot up and what exactly is it doing?

Is there a Quick Boot setting in BIOS .. and is it enabled?

What is 'Battery Backed' Methyl?

You do not 'need' a RAM check every time the PC starts up.
It is default part of POST sequence with most Asus motherboards using AMI BIOS. You can switch off the check if it bothers you (and is switchable in BIOS .. it may not be) Might be 'disable RAM check' or you can try a 'quick boot' if found.
If the RAM was really bad .. it would not start anyway ... and you'd be no worse off. In fact it will stop right there with bad USB hardware, HDD's, Graphics cards.
