7a This clue is wrong! The answer FARAD certainly fits the cryptic clue:
'to force back' = FAR (RAF backwards)
'plug' = AD (advert)

but Farad is NOT an amount of charge
It is the unit of electrical CAPACITANCE.

I agree that a farad is unit of electrical capacitance. I just wondered what the exact wording of the clue was.
The original meaning of Farad was a unit if electrical charge OED
factor30.....The clue was 'Amount of charge to force back plug'.
Brownargus is correct; that definition is now unused.
the charge unit is "coulomb"
