Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Finally got to the end of this one. My goodness, what an ingenious crossword. I should think checking the answers will be incredibly boring considering the nature of the puzzle. Following prompting here I have just subscribed to the Magpie but don't know when I'm going to eat or sleep.

I agree with the gist of what's already been written. I still can't see the word play for some clues but am confident I have the correct answers. I thought the endgame was relatively straightforward and certainly easier than the preamble presaged.

I would find the number of crosswords in Magpie overwhelming and a shortcut to the divorce courts if I succumbed in full. I have been for many years a member of the Crossword Club (founded and still run by Brian Head) which has just 2 puzzles a month, one difficult and one usually less so. The standard is variable but on the whole comparable to Listener types. Many Listener setters have submitted to it. It is only £20 a year and has other competitions, items of news and comment. Good value, I think. It may be that all AB members already belong, but with all the news about Magpie's problems I thought it was worth a mention.

Six superb Magpie puzzles a month is not an overwhelming number, to me. I cannot overstate my admiration for the Magpie.

One way to minimise transcription errors is to copy the grid into Excel, and do a find and replace for each letter in the relevant sections. Very enjoyable puzzle.

Or simply colour code the less frequently occurring item (then pattern recognition is pretty straightforward for each block and very easy to copy).

IainGrace - 7R is a homophone, 12F uses sequential letters from four clue words and attempts an &lit definition. Could only see one other &lit Rogue-Elfe (2F).

Late to this one after being away for the weekend but have finally got there, I think. Great fun and a real challenge. As others have remarked, some excellent and amusing clues, including a number which took ages to fathom the wordplay. Thanks Ozzie.
