You type your answer there, click on "submit" button and you've answered you own question or original post (OP)

Why not try this now.
When you are looking at your own question type something in the box that says "Type your answer here".
Then press the grey Submit button which is just underneath the answer box

There may be a technical problem for posters like norm44 and neil2 but I'm puzzled as to why the submit button would not be there for their own posts and yet it is there when they submit a question or want to reply on someone elese's thread

Please can you confirm that you've seen this thread and let us know whether you are now able to reply to your own posts.

Even if you can't reply here on this thread you could start a new thread by posting a new question- maybe call it "F.A.O. Factor 30 and Baldric"- and let us know what the issue is.

I made numerous attempts to help another poster who had the same problem but never got any feedback whatsoever so I gave up trying to help.

I give up. It's clearly more difficult than I thought- I'm not sure whether it's a technical problem relating to the browser or whether some posters aren't really wanting help
