Rose bush dug out by dog......
6 Answers
I just started gardening last year and planted a beautiful blue rose.
I just found out today that my neighbours dog has dug it right out of the ground as I found it lying away at the back of my other neighbours garden looking rather dry and stick like.
Does anyone know if I can save it and plant it again ?

Suppose it depends how long its been out of the ground, but there again when you think of all the bare rooted ones in the shops it could be ok. I would replant it and cross your fingers. Cut it right backand give it some food also.
Good luck, a lot of learning is trial and error anyway.

I think I might give the roots a good soaking in a bucket of water before I replanted it and make sure the ground around it is well tamped down to keep it firm. Also I would give it a good feed as glenbar says and then hope for the best. I have found roses seem to like plenty of water. To keep the dog away it might be a good idea to sprinkle some pepper round the area. Have you complained to your neighbour? It is quite difficult to grow a blue rose, but keep going and you will be rewarded in the summer.
