fruit tree = anagram of 'i turf' + Tree
Fruit tree
Beerbohm Tree was an old actor
Mandarin is the tree (small orange tree)
The way I now read the clue suggests that 'old actor' and 'mandarin' indicate the tree.
'old actor' [Herbert Beerbohm Tree] is part of the clue subsidiary whereas 'mandarin' is the definition part of the clue
Wow bibblebub!!!!
my desktop internet connection is back to normal (fingers crossed) after 2 weeks of being unusable most of the time so I'm feeling slightly euphoric and garrulous
