I asked a few weeks ago if you went to Antique Fairs etc. Now I have another question..... what, if anything, do you all collect? I have a theory that the younger generation don't collect as we did; apart from CDs and guitars, my own son doesn't collect, neither does my DIL. We often hear on programmes like Flog It "oh my children don't want it". Are collectables going to die a death? What are your thoughts please?

Books, not that I mean to, I buy them, read them and then mostly keep them in case I want to read them again at some point, one of the spare bedrooms is full of them.
I collect Lithops, got over 100 now but don't think I'll be able to get the 300+ different ones as I'm running out of room.
My partner says I collect sh!te.

Tenrec - my OH thinks that the things I bring home are too!
D97 - don't they have to be in a greenhouse then?
I hate to get rid of books, I have some from when I was five, they get an outing when the grand kids are here, latest favourite with them is one called Fox makes friends.
Yes, they're all in a conservatory!
Books...always in the charity shops..I have several authors, quite a few who
I collect. I try and get most of their series before I start to read them in order. The back bedroom is a 'junk room' so that is where they go on a large bookcase which I expect to collapse any day.
When read they go to the other side of the room on shelves, cos I'm sure[i
I will read them [i]all] again
There is a second hand bookshop in Milnthorpe that is full from floor to ceiling with books in every room. I don't know how the weight of the books doesn't bring down the upstairs rooms. I think it is 3-storeys high.
Also books. Lots and lots of books. My late mother used to collect egg cups and had about 300 of them. Apparently this made her a pocillovist - who'd have thought there'd be a word for an egg cup collector!
If I was really rich I'd but a house big enough to house a private library. Apart from books I don't collect anything.............I detest ornaments and bric a brac.
^ buy
I collect headaches, problems, sponging children, stubborn husbands, ....oh and recipes!

Debts, lie cobwebs around my feet weaving a web strong and unbreakable
I don't collect anything in particular I am just loath to throw or give things away. I I can't bring myself to get rid of books, we have loads, but I wouldn't say we collect them. I think of 'collecting' as collecting for collecting sake and collecting things that have no use, except to add to your collection.
But I do tend to collect waifs and strays of the four legged variety, although I am cutting down on this.
