Hi atsgran you probably didn't get a phone back yesterday because of me yapping - the girl was ever so nice but she sounded a bit harassed.
Shoota well done for finding out the answer :o)) I would never have got that and thanks for the definition mamya.
I've checked my (very large) list of ropey clues and their answers and dolce was the answer for soft (music) so will go with that. As you'll have notied some of the others are a bit iffy:

88d activated - done? woke?
This is the last Dr I'm buying - the crossword just gets me grumpy :o))
