I have t*p*y/ *a*e which suggests that the second word is cake. Tippy cake? topsy cake? Help please (with explanation if you would be so kind. All part of my development!

Aha!
The central letters of wreckage are ecka, an anagram of cake, thus the letters of cake are drunken or tipsy.
