Next week's is crossword 50 (8th - 14th December). Mine also states that the next magazine will be on sale from the 6th December, but, there have been a few questions posted in the crossword section with RT51 in the title. Obviously, some people are able to get there hands on a copy before others.
I know you were being helpful. Sorry if I came across a bit abrupt.

No, all newsagents get them from just a couple suppliers, and usual all on the same day. At Christmas there are always two, and sometimes three editions on sale simultaneously for at least a week. Where the publishers do try to dupe the public is by putting "Christmassy" pics on the cover of the editions preceding the Christmas one - and you would be amazed by the number of peeps who fall for it!
In past years, Lynda, as you say, the TV guide companys state in their previous issues that the Christmas issue is available on say, Tuesday 11th Dec, or earlier.....so that leaves it open that if they want to release it before that date, they can...the shops put them on shelves earlier, with the previous two editions near them. Confusing innit! lol
If you dont get your copy of Radio Times, if thats what you prefer, by Tuesday, Lynda.... I'll treat you to any dinner date of your choice....howzat? :) xx

The shops put them on sale as soon as they are delivered to them. There is no advantage to keeping them in their warehouse or back room. So, if the christmas listings for, say, TV and satellite are delivered on Saturday, then3 editions of that title will be on sale till Tuesday. Then for another week, there will be 2 editions, then after that just the Christmas one. The same will apply for all the titles
