Have finished this (I think) - I have Agnate as the answer to 16Ac - head of allotments wanted ground with shed attached - I do not get the wordplay however except for Head (the word meaning related to the father's side of the family - ie in olden days the head) Am I correct in my solution, if so why and if not where should I be going?

seen as adnate
How many letters should the solution have, and do you have any to go on?
Adnate makes sense (means attached, and is made up of a + anagram of anted - wasted with no first letter, ie except for head).
