13 across. Clue: A uniform infused with old solvent (6). I have: ?F?O?T. It can only be afloat, afront or effort but I can't seem to fit any of them to the clue. Help please and explanation.

Thank you fang. I feel rather foolish. Make me even foolisher: last one and then good riddance, I should have done two milews with my dog by now if it wasn't for Mr. Mayer. 25 across. Clue: Trash as in rubbish (5). I have: R?A?T
