Getting Rid Of Black Mould In Bathroom.

I have the feeling that it is impossible to get rid of black mould on the rubbery sealant that goes round the bath and shower edges. I bought some expensive stuff called HG Mould Spray but it says do not leave on for more than 30 mins and that it may leave a permanent discolouration. I want to try it out but the grout between the tiles where the mould is touches the white sealant so I can't avoid it overlapping.

I've used HG mould spray on my shower before and it worked really well for me. No problem with discolouration either.

It is toxic stuff though, so make sure you open the window and wear gloves a mask. I'm not one for usually following namby pamby safety instructions, but I did in this case!

Don't leave it on for more than the half hour, and if it does discolour your grout or sealant is that not preferable to black mould?

this question has been asked before and the consensus was that mould on RUBBER sealant will not come off - I've had mould on rubber sealant and tried everything including raw gel bleach and nothing works. its quite an easy task to pull out the rubber sealant and replace it with fresh -even I can do it and I'm blond and female ;-)

Is it rubber or silicon ?

I don't know Murraymints. It was applied in 2002 when my new showerbath was put in. That may give you a clue.

Is it like a plasticy cement like edging or a separate rubber strip that has been put on ?

It is the stuff that has to be squeezed out of a special applicator. A plumber who put the bath in did it so I expect it was silicone.

Stargazer -its called silicone sealant and its nigh on impossible to get mould off it -believe me I've tried -as I said before -best way is to carefully peel it out and reapply.

Update. An hour ago I sprayed the HG Mould spray on my sealant in the bathroom and waited twenty miniues and then began scrubbing at the sealant where the black blobs were and to my amazement, it is no longer noticeable to anyone except myself. My sealant was not entirely black and was kind of spotted where the air was unable to circulate. I always use the extractor fan, open the window and door and leave them open afterwards and keep the radiator on. However it is impossible it seems to stop this. I wish someone had told me when it was new to keep drying it after showering as it is leaving it wet it seems that causes the problem.

HG is good, but IMO the only way to get rid of mould on/in the silicon rubber is to strip it off and replace it.
