23ac- Country runner taking drink back (7) - ?I?E??? - I can get Nigeria and Liberia. The drink back could be gin in Nigeria, but how does the rest of the answer fit the clue?
21d- Black swimmer's shiny jewellery (5) - B???N - can't see what this is at all. The 3rd letter of this answer is also the 6th letter of 23ac.

Thanks all, those make sense, which means another answer is wrong if bling is right. The clue is - But "hard" describes "hard" (6) - T?O?G?- though, trough or thongs?? Don't see how any of them fit the clue. Thinking caps on please !!!
