11a. Very hungry, I dipped into boiling tureens (- S - R - E - T).
Can't find any anagram of 'I tureens' in the dictionary, but I am sure my letters are correct.

7d. He's on board reversing 14 (- A - L - R). I thought perhaps sailor, but don't see how it fits the clue.
(Clue for 14 is 'You may hear it at night, scratching a bit', for which I got the answer 'rat'.)

I would be very grateful for any help you can give!!!!!

means hungry or greedy
sailor, other clue was rat, reverse, tar, another name for sailor
