5d - love's about turn takes sailor on journey under sea (8) - E?R?S?A? - I can get Etruscan and Eurasian but can't see how they fit the clue.

Also, 23d suggested answer from several previous enquiries is UTHER, in response to clue "and day was fixed for King after this old one ". If Uther is right , how does it fit the clue?

Help appreciated, with rationales.

Thanks

Many thanks BB. On the ball as usual !! Any thoughts on UTHER?
5d.Eurostar ( love=Eros, turn=u, sailor=tar)
can't come up with an explanation for Uther, yet
Anything to do with anagram of Thur(sday)?
are there instructions which modify some clues or answers? I'm wondering whether it could be connected with (Martin) Luther King Day
Question Author
At the top of the crossword it says that it's 30 years since the setter, Cinephile, Rev John Graham, set his first FT crossowrd. Some of the answers do in fact refer to that fact and time frame.

Also, Uther was apparently King Arthur's father, if that helps !! It didn't help me!!
Martin Luther King Day was indeed created in 1983 so fits the 30th anniversary theme in some of these clues. However, I can see nothing in the clue to indicate the dropping of the L of Luther to make Uther.
What is the significance (if any) of "and" at the start of the clue? Does it refer to the previous clue or answer?
...the 'and' indicates the 1983 reference applies as it does to the two previous clues.
