James I Murder Attempt 408 Years On.

It is now 408 years since the brutal and savage attempt to murder King James I of England. Some say we live in a much less violent society than years ago, if this is true isn't it now time that a final line was drawn under this historic case and closure put on the whole affair?

This one murder attempt has taken up enough time, what with regular burnings, not to mention the huge costs in resources and police time, after all they have already tried, found guilty and hanged members of the gang that committed this act.

I agree, it seems pointless to celebrate and mark the event so long afterwards. Having exposed a shocking institutional bias against Catholicism we can be pretty sure that the country has overcome such trouble. I bet there wouldn't have been nearly as much fuss if Guy Fawkes were Protestant.

maybe James 1st has a mum like Doreen Lawrence who seems to have become a heavyweight in getting a reaction from both the world of politics and media. Its not like the police havent mishandled loads of other murder enquiries with wrongdoing, predudice and inefficiency.
