Anyone having trouble with the back button on AB? If I am in a page and click on a question I go to that page. When I click the the back button to return to the page I was on before I get a message saying Internet Explorer cannot display the web page. I don't get this on any other web sites. I have been on IE8 for a few months but this is recent.
It's not happening with me, Edmund. I've just tried a few clicks on the back button (I assume that you mean the white arrow on a blue ground at the top left-hand corner), and it works fine. I have Internet Explorer 8, if that's of any help. Sometimes, a quick way of going back is to press and hold Alt while pressing the ← button on the right of the keyboard.
Oh and yes it happened once to me this afternoon as you describe. I just right clicked the back buttonn and selected a sensible page from the offered list.
My work's IE is never up to date. Too many issues checking all existing things work through the new version, it gets upgraded when everyone else is moving on to a version, 2 versions higher. :-)
Thanks all. I will probably use Control+Click on the question and go to a new tab. Incidentally, Old_Geezer, when I right click on the back button I don't get a list.
Ah, correct, For IE 8 it is a down arrow to the right of the back/forward ones. Left click on that does the same thing. I use so many different browsers in different places that I easily get confused at my age :-)
I do not like Internet Explorer, hence the reason for having Firefox as my default browser. I do know for a fact that IE 8 has become problematic and, unless you change to another Browser such as Google or Firefox, you would be well advised to follow the rest of the Ed's advice ...update to IE9.... Even if your OS is Vista, as is mine.
You can have as many Browsers as you like; so it's worth trying something as an alternative to IE.
