Good morning to fellow insomniac cruciverbalists!
I've finally finished this one, but there are some clues I don't fully get: -
57A Way in which Indian director cuts picture, P-R-R-Y-L. Portrayal is picture but I don't see the rest
48D Piece of information union used in current stoppage, D-T-M. Datum is piece of information, U is union, but I can't connect DATM with current stoppage!
And a couple of other small niggles (call me a pedant!: -
29A Able to move supply I needed in factory is PLIANT (Able to move, I in PLANT) but why is the word 'SUPPLY' there?
4D Coins put in hat for drink is TIPPLE (Drink, 2 'P's for coins, but I can't quite see TILE for hat
I have a vision of a large boot approaching with 'KICK YOURSELF' on it....
Thanks in advance for all help!

You're a pedant :-)

4d A tile hat is Scots for a top hat
48D has got me thinking along the lines of DAM for current stoppage but that leaves the T being obtuse :-)
Question Author
Yes, of course, it's TU for union in DAM. Thanks!
57a Way in = portal
Indian director = Ray (Satyajit)
port(ray)al
29a supply as in 'supple'
Question Author
Many thanks to both Wharton and albaqwerty.
Must brush up on my Scottish hats and Indian film directors - not come across either of these.
And of course I was misreading supply as in demand instead of 'in a supple manner'!!
