Each day my brother emails me a photocopy of the Sydney Telegraph's Stickler crossword.

In today's crossword there is a clue:- A horse kept in building outside is exhausted.(7)

I'm well aware the word is used to denote tiredness but do you think the answer, which is pretty obvious to cryptic crossword buffs, would ever appear in a British crossword? It amused both of us.

Maybe it's an Australian thing.

The i does have some slightly risqué answers from time to time, and the Private Eye crossword would have no hesitation using that word.

Thanks for your comments bibblebub. I would still be surprised to see the word in a national newspaper crossword.
