Punctured In Paddling Pool

The kids have a large paddling pool made up of three inflated rings but the middle ring seems to have a puncture. Given that it holds a lot of water, how do I inflate it and find where the hole is? I am under the impression that if it was a bike tyre, I would inflate it and put it in water to see where the hole is. This seems impossible given the amount of water the pool holds + the weight of the water if I have to move the pool at all. Anyone have any idea of the easiest/least stressful method to locate the puncture? Thank you.

Pump or blow it up then run your hand around it, you'll soon find it

sherr, could you pump it up and run your hand slowly and lightly over that ring, you should feel escaping air on your hand.

Thank you. I will do that tomorrow (shame, as I only cleaned it and filled it back up today). It looks like a failed jelly (filled with gallons of cold water).

I've had to fix a few of those in the past, sherr.

mix up some washing liquid in a basin (not a lot of water)
blow the pool up, cover the ring you think is punctured with the soapy stuff, and watch for the bubbles.

Thanks all - normally a job for himself but I am not letting him anywhere near it (if I could fix the clutch on his van I would be laughing!).

Not sure Tony, he was working on it before his head went bang but has admitted he won't be able to do it now (not sure he was technically capable of fixing it in the first place). I will ask around for a mechanic who can come here to sort it out - not a biggie, but I know it is bugging him.

Yes sherr, get a mobile mechanic to come and sort it, himself will be well chuffed I'm sure.

Surely you find out in much the same way you find a cycle inner tube puncture. Put some air in. Squeeze it as you put a part of the ring into a large water filled container, a bit at a time, and gradually move it around. Watch for the bubbles ?
