Free Newspaper Feeling Awkward
6 Answers
This is awkward, isn't it.
Every time you go in Waitrose, they give you a free newspaper. If you take the Guardian or Observer, that saves you about £11 a week.
But then I'm not spending that money in the corner shop, where the guy needs the money more.
If feels silly turning down the free paper, and then buying the same paper down the road.
I suppose one could buy an extra magazine in the corner shop, along with the ArseGas.
But buying superfluous magazines is hardly environmentally friendly.
Solution?
First world problems!

It is a personal decision. Do you pay extra to support local small business who would go out of business and you would lose them if you don't, or do you look towards immediate personal gain and go for the least cost to yourself ? If something is not valued and supported, then maybe it ought not remain.
Recall also that it is the actions decided upon by the community that counts since bucking the trend may make you feel virtuous but won't have the desired effect. This is why so many unfortunate changes are occurring in society as folk follow the bribes and claim it foolish to do otherwise. Folk are so easily led; small gains, or free cakes & circuses, although there is some mileage for some in claiming they can not afford to do otherwise.
