Why, do you suppose many people when asking a question feel the need to tell us all this is the "last one". Are they showing themselves to be clever enough to have solved all the other clues to other AB subscribers or is it a sort of defensive message?

Also, what are my fellow ABers thoughts on people who, when asking a question say "thanks in advance" which relieves them of the trouble of subsequently taking the trouble to do so. I find it a tad impolite, maybe even arrogant and taking people who trouble to send in an answer a little for granted. Any views?

I suppose the "last one" comment separates them from the people who post multiple questions before they have even started their crosswords.

I agree with you about the "thanks in advance".It seems a bit lazy and leaves no indication whether or not the poster has seen any answers.

I was always taught to say please and thank you and I agree with you and dannyk13 entirely.

I do sometimes put thanks in advance if the question has been posted when I am not going to be able to remain or come back on line immediately. Don't other people go out or to work. I was never able to access answerbank at work. I think people put last one because it is so frustrating to have got so far and the fall at the last fence.!

I agree with Danny, I think a lot of people feel rather guilty (or even ashamed?) that they are asking for help instead of managing the whole thing by themselves and so they want to make it clear that they have made a great effort before having to ask - unlike, as he says, those who ask for umpteen answers before they get going
