Great answer

Good + Beer + U (Classy)
14 Boedguero - anagram of good beer + U (classy)
I think iminoz has it - Bodeguero is a wine producer or owner of a bodega and is an anag of good beer + u (classy)
Annoyingly I had already got that but the first translator I tried didn't list it as a word.....

It's also a dog trained to hunt rats among beer barrels- a kind of barman?
Could 1a be something like worrykins? Can't find it as a word, though
Have you got any more letters for 1a?

That has me totally bamboozled - if your suggestion is right can you think of a word Y?R???G? in answer to the clue "Endless worry after uncultivated ground produces sandy ridges"? The "I" would fit INDIE which is what I am toying with for 4 down (I'm hesitant to protect deviant and free of barriers)

Found 3 down YARDANGS - I think it is worryguts (tug for yank)
That's a new word for me, mra1
