No spoonerisms that I have seen. Re side wind, I can see the blow (wind) not confronted (side, not front) in the 2nd part of the clue, but can't see how this fits with the first phrase. Can anyone else see the rationale?

I would go with the spoonerism. False delivery = wide (cricket). Went astray = sinned therefore wide sinned which becomes side wind. I think Bibble was correct.
