Just out of interest, how do you think the paper decides whether this week's winner is going to be a written or texted entry? (and the prize crossword for this week)

They toss a Coin?
Question Author
well I suppose that's as good a way as any!!
I like it, but it is an interesting question, and I wondered that myself
No one wins - Its all a Con. Have you ever checked up on a name of a previous winner?
It can't have no winner - that would be illegal.
I won a silver cross pen many years ago. Since then the only winner has been Dean ****** Mayer !!
Interesting question. Tossing a coin wouldn't be fair as the odds should be set in the same ratio as the numbers of written and texted entries.
When there are TV comps with expensive text entries I always choose the free online entry option, but I do wonder whether paid for entries are given priority
Does Dean Mayer set this one then?
I've often had the strange thought that all 2nd class stamped entries(mine) were automatically binned leaving the Ist class a better chance of winning.Stupid I know.I did win earlier this year £500 on a texted I spy Lancelot crossword before they reduced the prize to £250
Hi It isnt a con, I won it earlier this year.(posted entry)
