The instruction I posted only covers 30 clues of which 29 down does not appear to be. Further instruction as follows ' Each of six clues consist of definitions of two words of different lengths; in each case, the longer word is treated as indicated by a word in the quotation to create the shorter word, which is the answer to be entered. The quotation is 'Starless and bible-black' from Under Milk Wood. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks all. Dannyk13, the crossword instructions run to 140 words so I was trying to keep it relevant to the answers I was looking for without us all losing the will to live! It's a good job us old buggers have plenty of time on our hands.
