This week it isn't the long, obscure, ambiguous or misleading clues that foxed me. It's a very simple one (seemingly!) 2 down: "A shelter for cows" (4).
Now the linking letters from other clues give me B-R-.
Simple so far, yes? But there are TWO equally good answers: "BARN" and "BYRE". Could I solicit opinions as to which I ought to go with, as there is really no difference between them. I doubt as to how closely they check answers, as the SE must get thousands: I have a cynical suspicion that as long as it looks right, they all go into a pile and they choose at random anyway. But I'd hate go get a conscientious checker who sees I got Two Down wrong according to the approved answers! (Waste of a stamp and envelope, for one thing). Thanks!
