Q: Comes before a gale but then comes after it! (6) *E*E*E. I think the answer is "SEVERE", but not sure how it fits the 2nd part of the clue.

When you put the word SEVERE before the word 'gale' you get the term 'severe gale' but that comes after just 'gale' on the Beaufort Scale.
Morning Bibblebub. Yes, I couldn't see severe on the Beaufort scale but I just looked at what came before Gale on there. I also thought of SERENE (calm before the storm) but that didn't work. You have now convinced me
