I have got the answers to the clues (I think) but has anyone figured out where to start this thing? I spent hours racking my brain yesterday and found the same difficulty today!

Start at top left hand side, with KIEL, then ANDY, etc. If you get stuck on the murder weapon, just ask.

Like most puzzlers, I had, with great difficulty and without solving all the clues, arrived at knuckle duster in answer to the murder weapon on the spiral crossword. However, the general knowledge crossword has taken up far too much of my time (the tomato plants are crying out to be planted out!!) but on the off chance it may also be needed at the end of the day, one last clue has stubbornly refused to yield up an answer, ie
29a. excessive eating or appetite caused by disease (10) p?l?p?a?i? (assuming all interconnected answers are correct)
