// I think it may be a long time yet. As TTT points out I bet the lawyers are rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of all the law suits. // Why would there be any more law suits than there are currently? I can't see there being more accidents. At worst there'd be the same number.

They can't be any more dangerous than the ones with humans at the controls. They're the ones you've got to worry about in my experience.

I could not agree with you more Ludwig - maybe all cars should be made this way
I'd love to be able to get some kip or read a book while driving to work.

I'd just love to pop in a car and go anywhere on my own
EEK!
i test drove one of the cars that parks itself, it was a really weird experience and very unnerving
I was thinking that no matter how safe it was you'd need a long time to relax and for your heart to get out of your mouth and go back to its usual place.
LOL, it's a real leap of faith isn't it fluffy to let the car park it self.
In the future they'll be laughing about people driving cars back in the old days(ie. now)

As far as I can see these will only be popular with the non drivers amongst us.
lol, it was really really hard to relinquish control like that, i didn't like it one bit although it was very clever and a better parallel parker then me :-) I don't think i would like to be in a driverless car, maybe in years to come they will be common place but for me now, i'd like to be in charge when im driving
Same here fluffy.
it'll stop boy-racers doing 140 mph, Baldric ;o)
park sensors and camera's are a bloody good idea and i think the sensors should be fitted as a safety measure and as standard

I did hear that one has now topped 150, but of course I couldn't confirm that, even though it was checked by a GPS device.
Driverless cars on icy roads and on snow should be entertaining! Can't wait for the driverless 40 ton truck................
gawd help us!
This'll be killed stone dead by lawyers and insurance companies. Even if it's technically feasable, the legal obstacles are vast.
I suppose they could cope with much higher speeds once the 'manual' cars are off the road.
who's at fault when one of these runs over a cyclist? Can I get rat ar5ed and get my car to drive me home? etc etc
